To Tweet or not to Tweet?
Twitter is a free text-based micro-blogging and social networking service that allows users to publish their tweets on the internet in the form of 140-characters posts. People can share this by updating their statuses regarding whatever; starting with personal thoughts, passing by various humans issues (environmental, economical, social, political, etc) and last but not the least about the Big-Bang theory.

To Tweet or not to Tweet
Since launched in 2006, users were able to tweets posts that links to any URL and this has positively placed Twitter among the top social networking list in terms of users; as of 2007 where (bloggers) and users interaction was not only sharing plain words but also publicizing their own sites either being personal or business.
As of 2008, politicians and main-stream media joined the game and by 2009 we see a tremendous dependency on this service in the social world and a hysterical attitude of following up public figures and celebrities whose followers already passed 1,000,000 (1 Million) users.
Tweet or Not
You may ask: so what’s up, dude?
Well, back to title of this post, I place my answer as follows: “that is not the question.” This simply means it is not whether to use twitter or not but mainly about how to use. In other words, Twitter is about the tool that can be implemented either positively or negatively so what I am concerned about here is mainly abusing the system either technically or socially.
- Technically: spammers, site hackers, and terrorists;
- Socially: hatred-spreaders and pornography preachers.
Spammers Group: As for first abusing group, it is sad but true how the service is being abused by such bots-and-people. It’s important to take serious actions to reduce the technical side effect as much as possible.
Hatred-spreaders: As for the second abusing group: I am worried about how our children – in any society – might be exposed to such threats to how they are being raised which also something need some kind of control.
On the other hand, users who do not lay under the two mentioned categories are simply expressing their freedom of speech, which is something to be respected. That said, freedom of speech does not mean insulting others just because a sect – in whatever – see that they are right and the others are wrong.
Of course, I am not calling for any kind of censorship; on the contrary, I am calling for our awareness about why in the first place we are using this service or whatever service: either in the on-line virtual world or the off-line real one. This is basically related to the ethical and cultural background of users that formers their perception and reflects their personality. Furthermore, not all of us know each other in the on-line world so I cannot imagine your personality except from what you blog and tweet!

Kimmy and her BlackBerry!
As for profiles. I do exactly the same with but I think it’s frustrating to check all your followers to be sure that they are real.

Cool post
Personally I love Twitter. Not only is it a great marketing tool, but it also allows you to connect with plenty of friends and network with other people. I think Twitter will continue to be “the big thing” for a while

Lyss, good for your era
I noticed that many people used twitter for instant updates. That’s good however i don’t think it’s a “credible source” of information unless a link is provided to support who tell any story or else it’s just rumors
June 22nd, 2009 @ 22:16
Since I started using Twitter I have to say I really like it. But I don’t overdo it either. I limit it to 1 – 4 Tweets a day.
I have been lucky not to see any abuse yet, but I really don’t like it when people tweet constantly about nothing. There is nothing wrong with that, but I just prefer not to follow them. And it is because there are so many people spreading so much good info on there, I feel if we are selvective it can be a very positive tool

Evita’s last blog ..Significance
June 23rd, 2009 @ 00:35
Exactly, Evita. At my early beginings with this service, I used to follow many people but found they tweet about nothing important.
Like for example someone used to update her status everytime she wake up, eat, drink and sleep. She was pretty starving -I think- because this was the only fequent attitude for her that made me wonder about does she ever do anything else other than this?
June 24th, 2009 @ 14:21
Twitter is cool, some abuse while others use it to maximize their earnings and just to socialize. Twitter has lasted very long, many applications come and go but it’s still here and still growing day by day.

Hey Hicham! Thank you so much for coming by my blog!
I think you have several good points in this article! It’s becoming more and more important to raise awareness on how we interact with each other, both online and offline- and I’m constantly worried about how I’m going to protect my children from bad influences on the internet when they start to grow up.
Adrenalynn’s last blog ..What women want
June 25th, 2009 @ 20:17
I know what you mean, Adrenalynn. I just wonder about how the internet will be when they grow up? Or even there will be something else that we should worry about? Anyway, I think the best strategy is to be their friends and raise them to be aware how to make difference between right and wrong, then they judge themsleves.
June 26th, 2009 @ 06:13
I agree at this point if your a blogger or anyone with friends your going to be using Twitter at some point in time. I like the way you put this article together from the title to the end, nice work.

I don’t use Twitter as much as I should, mainly because I get distracted from all the notifications and I hat distractions. When I have time on my hands I follow the Tweets I find interesting, otherwise I don’t even have it on.

Twitter is a lot of fun as long as you watch who you follow. If you just follow all and sundry you will end up being overwhelmed by nothing but spammers and the occasional porn site. Ask me, it took me almost 3 days to clean my followers up. Now that I have done it I am enjoying Twitter again. From now on I will be careful as to who I follow and who I do not.

Sometimes it gets very difficult to understand weather the content is really worth tweeting? It is always in my mind weather linking to wrong content might have a bad impact on my followers.
