The Closer you get
Assalam Alaikum wa rahmat Allah.
Peace be upon you dear visitor.
Dear all: please welcome 2006 the “New Year” as it knocks on our doors to request a permission for entering our life to be the successor for the late 2005. Hereby this makes me wonder about how quickly days pass; as 2005 was doing the same thing 365 days ago with 2005 and this is how life goes on!

Pause and Think: The Closer you get
New Year: Moments of Observations
Personally, I am not a big fan of celebrating the New Year, either Georgian or Hijri, in the way people used to do, either locally or globally.
My reasons are simple: the meaning of a new year for me is catching moments of observation: to pause and think about what I fulfilled plus want I want to achieve later in the upcoming 365 days, so here is my own self improvement guide for this process. Yesterday, I went through them and here is the outcome:
- Evaluate: I still have many things to do in my life, so since I’m neither optimistic nor pessimistic therefore I try to evaluate things as much as I understand and this means it is about self evaluation.
- Honestly: In order for this self evaluation to be a true one, we should do it honestly and away from hiding behind any masks simply because hiding behind them gives you false results in the evaluation process.
- Lie Not: Be honest, no matter how the people around are lying because lying never gives you any benefit on the long run, even if people think that lying can save them from a specific situation on the short run, but it never save. It is like an endless circle which takes you inside, and later you cannot break through unless you said the truth, so my only advice is to be honest no matter what, and you will achieve the success even if you think the contrast.
- Set Goals: settings good goal to reach is what everybody looks for, no matter how small it is but set yourself a group of goals to reach for improving your life and look for the better ways to reach them. Hence, you should be aware about the Decision Making Process as it’s my life to live. Nevertheless, I emphasize on the point of caring: as much as you care about others in terms of not stepping over them to reach your goals, you shall reach.
- Spent Effort: reaching your goals simply means you have to spent more effort. It is not about wishing and waiting while you do nothing. Kindly not that nothing in this world can happen by pressing a button except in four cases:
- when you press the power button in your computer;
- when you press the electric power button in any place;
- when you press the button of your remote control;
- when a maniac president of any nuclear country presses the red button and release the weapons against its enemies.
- Social Interactivity: you are called to be as useful as you can for the community you are living in. Wherever you live, your life must have something to do for the others, so it is not only ms and myself. It is good when we do something for helping others, no matter how small and no matter the method of helping.
- The ultimate power: your relationship with The Almighty Allah (swt) – GOD – plays another role; as I see it is important to strength this bond between you and the Lord, the Creator, simply because Allah had created us from his soul and had provided us with the tools, our mind and body, in order to use them for dealing with life, so in return we must always thank Allah for his gift, and try to use them positively.
These self improvement tips does not mean we shall live in “Utopia” because I believe it will never exists on Earth as much as we are humans there will always be the good and the bad; however it is our duty to reach for the good side in our souls, and resist the bad part.
Consequently, I believe that we are neither angels nor devils; we are from clay that equals man, thus we can do the right and the wrong according to how we implement our human intellect to make this choice, but again it is our duty to overcome the bad side of our souls and make the good part more active. For that matter, I see that religions came to help us to reach the state of mind where peace prevails; this is the best medium for humans to act better, so it is important to practice your religion.
Nevertheless, for the Muslim readers of you, it is important to practice Islam in a real way where both your soul and mind are practicing, not only practicing to make people think you are good Muslim because doing so never makes you good, simply because you are wearing a mask which hides your character behind, and this is another meaning for knocking on heaven’s door of Allah that I previously discussed over my blog.
Finally, I am emphasizing on the importance be honest with ourselves no matter what, and as much as you are in peace with yourself and Allah (GOD), many things will be better in your life. One day in the hereafter we shall be asked from The Creator Almighty Allah (swt) about our deeds and in this particular time, good deeds shall lead you to Heaven while bad deeds shall lead you to Hell, so it is all your choice and not the others.
