Freedom and Speech

I’ve been following the controversial regarding the case of “Freedom of Speech” and found it really interesting yet something vital is missing. Well, the concept can be summarised into the following statement: “No one should be persecuted for his/her opinion regarding whatever as we are free to criticise and offend others.”

Freedom: A Perspective

Freedom is a BirdOkay! What about defining “freedom” at first? I’ve modelled freedom before, over I-MAG, as a bird that has two wings, and flies within a certain medium, heading towards a final destination. Let me elaborate more on the terminology mentioned up:

  • The two wings are sense and responsibly.
  • The medium is the freewill of the people, and;
  • The destination is the welfare of a certain community on the minor scale, and thus humanity on the major one.

Hence freedom itself isn’t the ultimate goal; rather it’s the right and righteous path for reaching such destination. Nevertheless, the critical point that has been fogged during such controversial is that criticising people’s acts is totally different from offending them in terms of what they believe in, regardless the race and religion.

Having said this, I do believe, as a Muslim, that neither inspecting the belief nor judging people’s intention is my ultimate business; it’s none. We should rather be concerned only about the acts, which are the practised actions that either can be right or wrong. Yet only the awareness of the civil society is capable of filtering the right acts from the wrong ones and this should be broadened and not suppressed.

Consequently, this explains why I criticised Slaman Rushdi’s Satanic Verses, Jyllands-Posten's Muhammad Cartoons, Greet Wilders’ Fitna and stuff that not merely flux wrong acts committed by some Muslims with the ideology of Islam, but mainly portray this as ‘Islam’ and ‘Muhammad’, which make me always wonders why? And why people are only highlighting on this side and don’t shed lights over the other one?

The other side stats that the revelation of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Allah Almighty to Mankind is simply for urbanising Earth, such urbanisation require integration of people, and the Qur’an mentioned that:

There is no compulsion in religion [2:256]

In the light of this, my criticism for terrorism is harder, regardless whoever committed; not merely because being illegal act against people but mainly because this reflects the barrenness to produce effective opinions and thus they used a short-cut: kill them all! OOPS! How about that Islam denies that concept as it contradicts with its mission statement if I can use such term!

Woah! It’s neither Islam nor Muhammad’s fault then; rather it is ignorance. For that matter, I feel sorrow for those who are committing not only the generalising sin but also the mix sin between applications and ideologies, which is much bitter, as I mentioned in my published articles over I-MAG before.

of the Danish Cartoon Crises

Assalam Alikom wa rahmat ALLAH
Peace and Blessings be upon you

Hello Everybody

In a past 3 posts + their comments, I'd told my opinion regarding the Danish Cartoon Crises, therefore I'm not going to tell any more opinion regarding this. I just want to focus on some other reactions + resources in this post. Furthermore, the next issue of I-MAG incha'allah will carry my official point of view regarding what had happened + other articles from the editorial stuff.

towards better understanding1 - Amr Khaled + Muslim Scholars
Amr Khaled, the 39 Egyptian Muslim preacher, is thinking about launching a conference, to be held on Denmark, in order tell the truth about Islam, prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and the whole cartoon row issue.

In Parallel, I was visiting his website few minutes ago and found that a press conference for launching this conference will be held today - Friday - on IQRAA TV channel, @ 6:00 PM Cairo Local Time (4:00 PM GMT).

On the other hand, a group of Muslim scholars worldwide had singed a statement regarding this Danish cartoon crisis. I'd found it on Amr Khaled's website too. It's currently placed in Arabic; however in case it's translated into other language, I will update this post incha'allah.

2 - Wikipedia
Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia, had made a very good collection of articles regarding this issue. You can read them both on the English or the Arabic Wikipedia, and from each article, you'll find further articles to read.

3 - Herald Tribune's Article
I was visiting Zenobia's blog - Egyptian Chronicles - few minutes ago, and I found her telling about an excellent article published in the Herald Tribune regarding this crises. I wish you read it too.

That's all for now and I'd explained my thoughts before.
I hope to see more acts to solve this crises, and I'm sure that the future will hold good news; incha' allah regarding everything.

Don't' miss me in your supplications, as I'm still walking on my path of tuning my life, that's why I'm not updating my blog with good info right now.

I hope you'll like my new blog, it's just for smile, as I mentioned in the previous post. so everybody keep on good work.

of London’s Trafalgar Square Event

Assalam Alikom wa rahmat ALLAH
Peace and Blessings be upon you

Hello Everybody

Today, under permission and support from London Mayor, Mr. Ken Livingstone, and in cooperation between UK Mainstream Muslim Community + Some Christian Organisations + Scotland Yard, a demonstration take place in London's Trafalgar Square this afternoon regarding the insulting cartoons published via Jyllands-Posten last September, 2005

London's Trafalgar Square EventThe cooperation between the Muslims, Christians, and Scotland Yard is to ensure that no extremists will involve within this event, as they represent a minority among Muslims.

From my point of view, and as I had explained before in the previous 3 posts + the comments, I had clearly mentioned that violence - from Muslims and Non - is not accepted, simply because it will never solve the problem. Violence is not from Islamic manners at all; as Islam denies any kind of threaten acts towards any human being - either Muslim or Non - and even towards any kind of creatures. That's why al-Qaeda acts are not welcomed as they don't reflect the real Islamic teaching.

On the other hand, there's something I'm pretty sure 101% of : Muslims who live in the West are part of their countries, which means Danish Muslims are proud to be Muslim, and proud to be Danish, same as Britons, Norway, French ...etc. They are full citiziens whom respect the country which they choose to live in, however their Identity - as Muslims - must be respected too.

Anyway, the previous posts have my thoughts regarding this cartoon row, the posts + the comments attached to them. Anyone is welcomed to place his/her comments after reading them in order to complete scope.

MISC
Regarding me, I'm still on the path of tuning my life as I said before, which still make my away from many other activities, and I shall update you as soon as possible, if something new happens to write about.

That's all for now, I wish everyone all the best in everything
