Sorry, where is your Mask?
Assalam Alaikum wa rahmat Allah.
Peace be upon you dear visitor.
As humans who are living this life on planet Earth, sometimes we face situations where we are called stop by to think about, analyze, evaluate, and finally use the results for a clear vision as this is a core operation for our human intellect to walk-through for reaching this using our minds in a rational way.
Hence, in this blog entry I am trying to understand how people hide behind their masks while wondering: “Sorry where is your Mask?” as if we are playing roles in a masquerade party, which is something I think you have asked and wondered about at least once in your life.
People and Masks
I took sometime while thinking about the role of masks in the human life. Hereby, I can summarize my thoughts into the following two sub-sections:
- Hiding behind the Masks.
- The Masquerade Party.
I, however, would like to tell you from the early begining that this shall be one of the semi-long posts, so take your time to read it.

People hide behind the masks
1. Why do people hide behind masks?
In my opinion, people put on those masks while dealing with others in order to retouch their self-image in the eyes of other humans so that the others perceive a specific image about them. It is notable, however, that this usually happens in order to gain sort of benefits on the short run; however on the long run, the retouched image of people who hind behind the masks usually discovered and others understand that it is just a faked image since you cannot lie on all people all the time.
Straightforward, it seems that hiding behind the masks is a favorite human act since dawn of history till the end of days. Masks have their own myths in terms of society and cultural context; however what I am talking about here is people who hide themselves behind them while dealing with people in the mundane life for reasons that vary from one person to another person yet I do not think it varies from one era to another. Moreover, people who hide behind the masks used to assume that the others are wearing masks and hiding behind them, therefore they also put on there own masks and gradually you find the communication in between happens as if you are watching a Shakespearean masquerade party where they smile at your face as if they are not hiding their real characters behind those fake masks!
Consequently, since they used to hide behind the masks for long time that they forgot about their characters in this masquerade party therefore they get confused when they find humans who are not hiding behind the masks and suspect they are either pretending or hiding behind a new mask that they know nothing about but unfortunately for them, they are mistaken all the time because these humans are not hiding behind any masks; either known or unknown. Moreover, those people might not be aware that their faked image is clear for other humans who understand what they do or in other simple words; this is just hypocrisy that you do the contrary to what you believe in.

People in a Masquerade Party
2. People and the Masquerade Party
Here is another question: how many times did you find yourself in continuous situations of dealing with people who are hiding behind their masks while playing their role within the masquerade party?
I am petty sure 101% that there are no angels on Earth but rather humans who are subjected to act rightly and do wrongly. Hence it is the person’s decision to act either right or wrong which simply means our human intellect plays a role in this; however we should be aware that one day in the hereafter everybody will be asked for what he (and she) has done so better taking this into consideration.
On the other hand, I believe that humans are not supposed to judge people according to their intentions simply because no one except the Creator, Almighty Allah (swt) who knows the intentions and hence, we should deal with each other according to this simple equation: “Acts + Words = Personality” which simply means that either you are dealing in a clear way or hiding behind the masks which is hypocrisy.
For the Muslim readers specifically, when you say or do something, it is supposed to be for making human life better. Moreover, do not wait for the reward from people by any mean but from Almighty Allah (swt) while dealing with people either bing Muslims or Non-Muslim because we are not called to judge people based on their faith or race but the combination of words and actions as elaborated in the previous paragraph. Hereby, I am emphasizing on Muslims generally and Arab Muslims particularly within this paragraph because they are supposed to know that dealing with other people while wearing masks is nothing but hypocrisy that is not welcomed, so they should ask this question: are we dealing with people for the sake of getting reward from them or from the Almighty Allah (swt)?
In a nutshell, I believe that all of us need to think twice then answer ourselves honestly about this question regardless the faith or race. Hence, my words here for all people who want to be humans are simple: neither retouching nor hiding behind the masks shall be useful as I mentioned up, this will be discovered sooner or later and hence everything should be always in the light not dark as you are supposed to ascend higher not descend lower, so if you think that hiding behind the masks and participating in the masquerade party is useful for you; think twice and read this post from the beginning!

Hello from Seattle, WA. I found your post very interesting and it would be great if more people knew how to remove the mask that is preventing people from really seeing them for who they are. Actually, the world would be a much better place if people were honest and accepting of one another.

Your post, although hurtful, is very touching. I came out of it more attached to my non-mask behaviour no matter what they do. I hope you don’t change too. not for them but for Allah’s sake, no?
and I am happy to see someone in his 3rd phase with the same truth that was with him in the past phases. I’m glad the world didn’t change you. and may Allah bless you with people who are transparent and honest with no masks inshallah.

Faith – Welcome to my blog. Thanks for stopping by. I agree upon what you’ve mentioned, however not all people understand, unfortunately.
Sara – Ameen ya Rab! Rabbi knows better and HE (swt) is the ONLY ONE who knows intentions of people.
Jannah – Don’t worry, nothing can change my way of thinking. Let who wear masks wear them, but they are really useless.
Rabbi always Rahmaan Raheeim
