Prophet Muhammad: Danish Cartoon Crisis

Prophet Muhammad: Danish Cartoon Crisis

On the 30th September 2005, Danish cartoons crisis was initially ignited when the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons insulting Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that later known as Jyllands-Posten’s Muhammad Cartoons (Arabic: رسوم كاريكاتورية مسيئة للرسول محمد).

These cartoons were republished in other newspapers that are hiding behind the masks of liberty while hunting freedom of speech’s bird; however this post has no further discussions on this topic but rather it is a repository for reactions, resources plus including my previously elaborations over my blog.

A. Reactions on the Danish Cartoons Crisis

  1. A group of 42 Muslim scholars issued a statement regarding the Danish cartoon crisis on Amr Khaled’s website in Arabic.
  2. Amr Khaled announced about holding a conference in Denmark that gathers both Muslims and Danish intellectuals in order to discuss the crisis. The press release for this conference will be aired today on Iqraa TV channel at 4:00 PM GMT and here is the Arabic version.

B. Resources on the Danish Cartoons Crisis

  1. Zenobia of Egyptian Chronicles told about an article published in the Herald Tribune. Kindly check it.
  2. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, has collective resources for the Danish cartoons crisis issue in English.
  3. I-MAG Magazine will publish published its 7th issue (Spring 2006) with a theme about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). You are welcomed to check the magazine for downloading the PDF issues.

C. My reflections on the Danish Cartoons Crisis
I have nothing else to add since my elaborations are already found in four posts. Here is a chronological listing in ascending order:

Finally, I liked the idea of the conference that Amr Khaled is thinking about although I wonder if this will lead some people go for criticizing Amr Khaled as usual but this is a good step. Hence, I hope to see more actions to solve this crisis and hopefully the future will hold good news inshallah if people want to listen to each other!

Salam,
Hicham

  1. Salam Everybody – I fixed some stupid mistakes in spelling, however I wrote this post in hurry as it’s 3:30 AM in Egypt right now – 1:30 Am GMT.

Sorry for anyone read it before I fix those mistakes.

  2. MAY PEACE BE UPON YOUR SOUL, HEART, MIND, AND BODY…AMEN.

IT’S RARE TO FIND THIS DELICACY IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE HARSHNESS I LIVE…
MAY ALLAH KEEP YOUR PATH ON HIS WAY STRAIGHT AND EASY…AMEN.

    • Sara – Thanks sister for stopping by, and for this du’aa. May ALLAH (swt) accepts from all of us, Amen!.

Salam Everybody – I placed updated links for the Press Conference in case anyone missed to follow yesterday.

  3. Salam hicham,

The link to the trafalger square article has a link to a BBC news article, just want to say that I was present at the demonstration, 5000 is NOT the number that was present.

They counted at the end and more than 40k people were there. ofcourse, the british media neglected to say this.

but i guess thats a feature of journalism, whatever sells goes.

There were 2 weeks worth of clips about the extremist muslims, but when it comes to showing the moderates, you’re lucky to get a minute and a half, and the initial number of protesters.

    • Nuralhuda – Salam sister, and thanks for stopping by. Yup, I’d placed the link to the BBC’s article; as this was the initial source to know about this demonstration, before checking other websites.

In fact, this article was placed before the demonstration itself began, however I was sure that the 5,000 number was just an initial one; simply because the moderate muslims are not only 5,000 persons.

As for the extremist muslims – whom said “London remember 7/7″ and those stupid words – it’s really strange how media focus on them – the minority – and left the majority of moderate Muslims!

Anyway, the demonstrations are still there at London + other European Countries, however I’m sure that both Muslim Leaders – worldwide – and the European Leaders will try their best to find a solution to this crisis.

I think you’ve seen the links I updated about the Muslim Scholars Statement + Amr Khaled’s call for conference.

I wish all the best for every ture effort seeking the solution for this crisis.

      Salamy for citizens of London
