Muhammad: Mercy Upon Mankind

Assalam Alikom wa rahmat ALLAH
Peace and Blessings be upon you

Hello Everybody

Mercy Upon MankindWell, in the sidebar of my blog - to the right - you can find resources about Islam & prophet Muhammed (PBUH) under the section titled “InfoPannel”. Kindly note that sometimes - not all the times - this sidebar don’t load correctly in the IE; as IE load it at the end of the page, therefore try Mozilla or Firefox, as the page loads correctly within them.

However, in addition to those listed resources, I’d like to highlight on the following websites/documentaries.

1. Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet
This documentary is produced via PBS, which have good information about prophet Muhammed (pbuh) and his noble message. I recommend it as a moderate and real documentary about our beloved prophet (pbuh). You can find more information about this documentary [here].

2. Islam: Empire of Faith
This is another documentary from PBS too, talking about Islam in general, and you can find more information [here].

3. Islam Guide
This is a free book in both HTML + PDF format, which is a brief illustrated guide to understanding Islam, Muslims, & the Quran. You can find it [here].

4. Islam Online
Islam Online has special section about understanding Islam in general, and for sure about prophet Muhammed (pbuh). You can find it [here].

5. IslamWay
IslamWay had launched a multi-language website about prophet Muhammed (pbuh). It is presented in 12 different languages. You can find it [here].

6. CAIR
The Council on American-Islamic Relations - CAIR - had launched special website about prophet Muhammed (pbuh) for anyone who’d like to know more about him. They are offering to send free books + free DVDs. And the DVD by the way is Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet. You can find it [here].

7.Islam denounces Terrorism
This website is based on Harun Yahya’s work. It’s very informative. You can find it [here].

8. Ala Khota Al-Habib
This was a TV program presented by Amr Khaled last Ramadaan 2005/1426. It’s available at el-Noor market, however it’s in Arabic only untill now. I’d wrote a review about it before. You can order your Arabic version from [here].

9. I-MAG Magazine
In the 4th issue of I-MAG, there’s an article which carry the name of this post, talking briefly about prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and his message. You can download I-MAG issues for free from [here].

BTW: I-MAG in cooperation with The Journalistic Club in Kuwait had organised An Evening of Enlightenment last Wednesday February 22nd, 2006, 6:15 P.M. where this documentary “Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet” was presented. You can find more information [here]

I recommend those websites for information about Islam, and to know more about how Islam - real Islam - came with peace to Mankind, away from the wrong stereotype image some people have about Islam.

I don’t believe in generalising, therefore I say that there are some Muslims who don’t understand Islam or better say understand it from their own point of view which aim to enrich their own benefits only. However it’s not the fault of Islam itself.

Therefore, I always believe that if you want to ask about something, ask the people who knows about it. Simply if you want to have a tour guide in Mexico for example, don’t ask an Indian to tell you about Mexico, rather ask a Mexican! Or ask the Indian about his country!.

Salaam Everybody - I recommend that you see both Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet + Islam: Empire of Faith. Both are excellent, and I rate them: 5 stars.

Assalamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.

You asked about namaste on another brother’s blog. I’ve reposted my answer below for you too

I used to be Hindu once upon a time, but as you’ve probably guessed from my salam, I am now a Muslim.

Hindu’s usually greet each other (or at least people older than them) with the word “namaste”, much as Muslims give salams. I had been doing that for a number of years without a second thought, and it only occurred to me to check it’s meaning a few of months back.

It turns out that it is shirk!

It is understood to have two meanings:

“I bow down to the Divine in you”
from Namas - bow, reverential salutation (from “Nam” -humbly submitting) Te - to you, acknowledging the divine presence in another.

    and also:

“I honor that place in you where the whole Universe resides. And when I am in that place in me and you are in that place in you, there is only one of us.”

Of course you still must be polite and respectful of everyone, but this technically makes it haram for you to say namaste to someone.

Personally, when someone says namaste to you I’d encourage you to smile warmly, perhaps give them a hug and tell them how glad you are to meet them. Just coz you can’t say namaste doesn’t mean that you love them any less.
