Marwa: A Call for Justice
After 3 months of stabbing her, the trial of Marwa El Sherbini’s killer is to begin at the end of this month according to a recent update from Crimeside at courtroom in Dresden, Germany on the 26th unless another date is set. Hopefuly [incha'allah] this shall be the final date for starting such expected trial.
Justice for Marwa
I am writing about this not only because I am Egyptian and both Marwa and Elwi are; not only because I am Arab/Muslim and both are; rather I do so mainly because -surprisingly- what had happened in the court on the 1st of July is not an imagination of an author who aimed to make suspense in a novel/movie/play however it is a true story and horrible one indeed which reflects the conclusion I reached many years ago that truth on the ground is always bitter than what any authors might create in their novels and plays due to the complication of the human nature.
Why Justice?
I believe that the point of any juridical system is securing people by achieving justice via compensating from the killers whether they are ‘lone wolf’ / ‘neo-nazi’ / ‘Russian-born’ or even ‘Bogeyman’. Whatever!
This is what I am looking forward for by the German justice system that is dealing with the case since the circumstances took place in Germany and remember that it is not only about Marwa but also Elwi too who was badly injured while defending both his wife & the unborn baby who was killed since she was pregnat. Needless to mention that the whole crime happended in front of Mustapha, their 3 years old boy at this time. May Allah (God) rest her soul and the baby soul in peace. Amen!
For that matter, this is neither a call against Germany nor against Germans but rather it is simply the title of this post: “ A Call for Justice ” and let us put the common stereotype images aside a little bit.
Helping Marwa
May be we are not member of the defending team but as bloggers and/or readers, we can help by raising the awareness about the case straightforward to the point:
- Place your thoughts and call for justice over your space;
- If you are on twitter, use #Marwa in your tweets for this case;
- Do make your prayers for the case whoever you are.
Nevertheless, whether you are blogger or not, prayers are needed and welcomed. Hereby, I am not calling only Egyptians, Arab and Muslims to make their prayer for but rather I am calling any body who read this to make supplications for her in your way and your language.
My Blog has been following this case in 3 previous posts in order to raise awareness about this and remember that everybody will leave this life in his/her time so let us do our share and simply call for justice.

p.s. This was a sticky post on the Frontpage of the blog -from October 14th to October 26th- till the start of the trial.

Hello my friend! Thank you for posting this about Marwa al-Sherbini. Many prayers to her family. Living in busy Chicago, I have not heard of this. I looked up more information on the case, and I am truly in shock. Not just because of the horrible act, but because I have only just heard about it now. I feel the media over here is too worried about Madonna, and Britney Spears to report a real tragedy. So sorry!

there’s no rights for Muslims and Arabs in germany,that’s the problem.
October 23rd, 2009 @ 13:13
Rachid11: I beg to differ in this point: I can not generalise and say this or else how come that the family stayed in Germany for study? I already mentioned this is neither aganist ‘Germany’ not ‘Germans’ in the post so let us just pray for justice! Thanks for stopping by here!
October 29th, 2009 @ 14:42
Yeah, we Germans are nazis alltogether and all muslims are terrorists, right… please learn to differ! Such statements as yours are anything but useful!
October 29th, 2009 @ 14:55
Za’ida: It is sad how some people still believe in generalising, isn’t it? Anyway neither Germans are Nazis nor Muslims are terrorists! Thanks for stopping by here!

Thanks for letting us know! I was horrified when I heard of this over the summer and although I have a bad feeling about how the matter will be handled in court, what that imbecile did was not humane and he cannot get off easy. Please keep us updated on the proceedings of the case.

What would be considered as justice in this case ?! Who/what can be the reference for that? She believed in Isalm, so maybe we should refer to Islamic justice. he did not beleieve, as far as we can see from his acts, so cant really find a logical reference for his favor. Why can t he be handed to the victims’ country for trial? It is only fair to give her folks an input in the judgement of his trial.
October 31st, 2009 @ 16:13
Hamesh: Justice in this case simply means compensating from the killer according to the law as I explained in the case from the criminal point of view.
Other views regarding what he believe in or caused him to do so has nothing to do with the criminal side of the case but may be subjected to debates to see how to solve the stereotypes by whoever aganist whoever, which is not the job of the judge as I believe. For sure, thanks for stopping by here!
