South Asia Earthquake (2005)

South Asia Earthquake (2005)

Oh dear! On the 5th of October 2005, a natural disaster happened when a violent earthquake of magnitude 7.6 degrees on Richter Scale hit South Asia region at 03:50 GMT.

The quake’s Epicenter is located at Muzaffarabad city, the capital of Pakistani part of Kashmir, which is located at 85 KM north-east Islamabad with 10 KM away from earth level.

At the first glance, it is beyond our minds to understand the magnitude of the destruction that happened there, same as when Katarina hits USA’s coast last month. News reported causalities about 100,000 victims: around 30 to 40,000 dead plus 60,000 injured while many villages were totally disappeared under the rubble either in Pakistan or India, which means the death toll of 2005 South Asia Earthquake may be doubled according to other reports. Meanwhile, people in Pakistan and India lost their shelter, families, or shortly everything and used to spend the nights out in the open in the cold, without any food or clean water.

On the other hand, what makes my heart bleed more when I knew that some schools had completely fallen on their students as happened in a Pakistani’s district, where 400 students have been buried under the rubbles according to some news reports. In simple words: what a disaster indeed!

Relief Agencies List for 2005 South Asia Earthquake

The United Nations (UN) is planning to issue a worldwide appeal for more aid plus assistance while the international relief agencies began to support the victims through implementing different disasters emergency plans. Hence, I see we all must help; everyone as much as he (and she) can afford, so here is a list for the agencies that are try to sweep the tears away for the victims of 2005 South Asia Earthquake:-

Update on 13/10/2005 at 3:30 AM GMT: It is our role to help the victims as much as everyone can simply because we are humans after all, so let us be positive, knock the heaven’s door of Allah through our active participation in sweeping those tears away forever!

Salam,
Hicham
