In Wonderland

LabyrinthSince I was young, I’ve been wondering about the reason behind why people struggle. I always found it strange that despite achieving on the technological field, we are unfortunately retreating on the human one, something that is applicable on different levels of human interaction, starting with the minor one; personnel, passing by the medium one; community, the major one; society, and ends with le plus grande; nations.

As I grew older, via reading and pondering, my scope of wonder was limited into one simple question: why do people interact positively or negatively with each other? Well I’m trying to find an answer via this post and hopefully we may reach the light at the end of the tunnel.

We are humans who need to fulfil our basic needs, not merely the physiological ones but mainly psychological. Such fulfilment leads to the sate of safety. In other words ‘being safe’ is what every human being willing to. Nevertheless, since we are not living alone on an isolated island therefore we deal with each other according to our differences which occurred due to the context we raised into.

Such difference -from my point of view- is the medium where they interact either positively or negatively. Hereby answering my early mentioned question can be simply referred to how we deal with our differences; When people are aware about their differences, they can deal with each other in a way that leads to the achieve benefits for all of them and thus justice takes place.

On the other hand, when people are not aware about their differences, they only deal from their own point of view for their own sake and thus you find unfair acts and people feel that they are not safe and start to struggle for survive.

Consequently, another basic question arose: what makes us understand our differences? Well simply, I do believe that love is the keystone in the enlightenment process that leads to such awareness. C’mon! Take a look around you and tell me how many people still love each other and care about each other for reasons other than materialistic benefits? How many people have decided to live without the fake masks and deal with each other frankly in order to achieve the balance between their own benefit and others’ benefits?

There is no Utopia on Earth, je sais mais what about kingdom of love?
C’mon! Life without love is the earthly hell which is unbearable!

Interesting blog. I too agree that love is the key for mutual understanding with others. Love is the intangible force behind every decision of goodwill.

I am a Christian, and it was not until I worked with some Muslim co-workers that I became friends with them and learned not to fear Islam. So, equally important with love is having an understanding of other cultures. Before working with Mohamed and Muhammad, I was completly ignorant of Islamic culture. I knew it from the text book answer, but these guys were the faces behind the religion. I really respect and love them today and I appreciate the perspectives they have given me.

Thanks for the post, I will check back. Have a great day!

I am a great believer of love. When we love our selves, we find it easy to love other people. Friendship and happiness will surely follow once we can tolerate other people’s differences from ours, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)

When people respond negatively towards each other, it is usually because either one of the two, or both people for that matter, want to take something from the other without giving something back that is of equal or greater value. Hence, the root of the problem is greed.

After reading this blog, the first thing that came into my mind is John Lennon’s song ‘Imagine’. We can wish all we want–no war, no economy slump, no conflicts, no global climatic changes, etcetera… but nothing will come true because this is reality. This is life. This is humanity. Hey, are we really dumb and cruel? Thank you for letting me share my thoughts.

You raise some interesting questions. I think people struggle because that’s what we’re used to doing. We also value struggle - to overcome some kind of adversity, for example. If things come easily we discount them. Particularly in the United States we support the underdog, the one who struggles … until he achieves, then we try to tear him down! It’s easier to struggle along with everyone else than it is to forge a new path, one of elegance where you are exerting the least amount of energy for the greatest return. If you live a life of elegance the fear is that your friends and family will feel betrayed! They’ve struggled to get where they are, where do you get off making life easy and fun?

Quantum physics shows us that we create our realities as we experience them, so why not make the choice to have things go more smoothly? It is bucking the system - and that can be just grand!
