The Hajj plus Eid ul-Adha
Today is the 2nd day of Eid ul-Adha for the year 1430 according to the lunar “Islamic Hijri calendar (Arabic: التقويم الهجرى)” which coped with the year 2009 according to the “Georgian calendar (Arabic: التقويم الميلادي)”, so Muslims are passing by the blessed days of the Hajj plus Eid ul-Adha.

The Hajj plus Eid ul-Adha
“Eid ul-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى)” is an Islamic festival that falls at the 10th day of “Dhul-Hijjah (Arabic: شهر ذو الحجة)” which is the 12th month of the Islamic calendar
In this Islamic festival, Muslims celebrate the commemoration of willingness of “Prophet Ibrahim [Abraham - (Arabic: إبراهيم - عليه السلام)]” to sacrifice his son “Prophet Ismail [Ishmael - (Arabic: إسماعيل - عليه السلام)]” for “The Almighty Allah (swt) [God - (Arabic: الله)]” and it usually lasts for 3 days from 10th to 13th of Dhul-Hijjah at the end of the Hajj.
“The Hajj (Arabic: الحج)” is an annual pilgrimage to the city of Mecca and it occurs from 8th to 13th of Dhul-Hijjah and it is considered as one of the five pillars of Islam. Moreover, these days are usually called “Ten Blessed Days of The Hajj plus Eid ul-Adha” where fasting all of them is not an obligation; however it is Sunnah especially on “Waqfat Arafat (Arabic: وقفة عرفات)” on the 9th day that precedes starting the Eid festivals.
Consequently, I usually read and think about the beauty of this verse from the Holy Quran that tell us portion of the story of the two Prophets: Abraham and his son Ishmael whom Arabs are his descendants, and how both Prophets had worked by revelation from The Almighty Allah (swt) – GOD – to raise the foundations of “Kaaba (Arabic: الكعبة الشريفة)” at the center of “Masjid al-Haram (Arabic: المسجد الحرام)” in Mecca, the Holy Muslim city:
{And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], “Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing} — [Holy Quran (Koran) Translation - 2:127]
On the other hand, I recall my article entitled “Haj: Enlighten Your Spirit” that was published couples of years ago over I-MAG Magazine where it deals with my reflections on The Hajj as one of the (5) five pillars of Islam.
Finally, I am ending this blog entry with placing my greetings for Muslims worldwide plus my prayers for a better world than what we see now, hopefully (inshallah) one day!
