Firefox ft. Internet Explorer
Assalam Aklikom wa rahmat ALLAH
Peace and Blessings be upon you
Hello Everybody
Well, Mozilla Firefox is strongly hitting the road; since the 1st release in November 9th 2004, over 100 million copies had been downloaded until today, which was the spark to the ignition of a very hot and serious competition between it and the famous Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE).
Since the beginning, Firefox had this nice slogan; “Rediscover the Web”, and that was true from many points of view; as according to Firefox website, it contains some features like:
- Tabbed Browsing: which make it easy to browse many pages in the same window;
- Integrated Search: FireFox has built-in search bar with different engines, which can be easily customized;
- Live Bookmarks: that updates themselves automatically to the most recent content of the bookmark, either its a web page or a blog;
- Improved Pop-up Blocking: Effective pop-up blocking system;
- Themes + Extensions: Themes can be added to customize and change the look of FireFox, same as for Extensions to improve working;
- All systems On: It runs on most of operating systems: Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Server 2003 - Mac OS X - Linux and Unix systems;
- Multi-Language support: There are many localized versions which cover many local languages worldwide.
Couple of days ago, on November 29th, 2005, the new release for Firefox - which carry the number 1.5 - had been released with brand new features as Mozilla announced on its website. About 2 million copies of the new 1.5 release had been downloaded until now, according to Wikipedia.
In Parallel, Microsoft is working on the new version of Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) which will carry the number 7.0 is the history of IE releases. IE goes back to the year 1995, when it was firstly shipped with Microsoft Windows 95 as a main integrated part of the windows operating systems.
A beta version is currently released for the developers to apply beta testing; as according to Microsoft website, they call this new version: “A new, re-designed and more secure version of Internet Explorer is now in beta testing with developers.”
They are working hard on this beta testing, in order to introduce the new IE 7 to the users and continue with the battle. By the way; according to Wikipedia, the name of Microsoft Internet Explorer will change to Windows Internet Explorer starting from Windows Vista.
This means that the competition’s temperature is rising, and the 2005 winter will face heat!
Me & The Battle field
I’m a regular user of MSIE since I ever used Windows; however as I like to use different software, I’d start using the legacy Netscape since it was released. After I’d switched to use Mozilla, and this for sure in parallel with MSIE.
As for Firefox, I start using it since a some time ago, and did not stop using it since then; it replaced all the other browsers on my list. It’s great and nothing more to describe, however to be honest with you, I use both of them: MSIE + Firefox. Both browsers are great, however FireFox is making advance; and the new releases are getting better and better.
PS: For sure Firefox is just a web browser, just like Microsoft Internet Explorer, however Mozilla/Netscape are complete suite [browser+composer+mail client+newsreader].
Anyway, let’s wait and see the new issue of MSIE; as for sure it will be something new, not only because Microsoft say so, but also because they must to a new thing to keep on the competition with Firefox.
Okay.. we shall wait and see, however I encourage you to try both of them yourself.
