Civilians Matters

I do not have a problem with “peace” since it is the dream that many human beings want to achieve every where according to the normal human nature. Peace resembles the status where people can live securely within a society of any nation. My real problem, however, is mainly in the situation of this peace in the Middle East conflict underneath the Arab-Israeli wars and the impact of this on civilians.

Civilians Matters

Civilians Matters

Peace Not Apartheid

If you are reading my blog for the first time, I am highlighting that despite being away from following any political ideology and respecting whatever you believe in, your orientation has nothing to do with talking about human rights in general and civilian matters in particular.

Hence in this blog entry, I am neither interested in discussing the background nor the political aspects of the Middle East conflict since zillions of studies did so; I am rather concerned about the humanitarian topics while trying to achieve peace versus what is really processed on the ground, so here I ought to stop by the actions taken from Israeli assaults against Palestinians throughout the whole conflict.

The Destruction Show

I believe that people are free to believe in whatever they want; however if you only look at the situation from “the actions versus reactions” political point of view, then I want to tell you this is one portion of a whole mosaic image that renders a fact about Palestinians who are living on a their land under occupation since the middle of the 20th century and for that matter I am highlighting the following points:

  • Not in the name of Allah (GOD): I believe in your free-will, so argue religiously like you want since it is your right, but slow down and make a pause to think about how come that you only see what you believe-in as “Jewish” where as in the same time you do not respect what other “Muslims” and “Christians” believe-in especially the importance of “Jerusalem (Arabic: القدس)” and “Mount-Temple”, so let us be aware about extremism done by some followers of the three religions not only one.
  • Not in the name of Humans: I am sure that neither Judaism nor Christianity nor Islam themselves calls for any kind of fanaticism whatsoever; it is rather people’s actions that require condemnation while assaulting others so forget about the stereotyped images as many Jews, Christians and Muslims support human rights. Consequently, I am aware about the difference between “Jew” and “Zionist” so it is not about stereotyping and misconceptions like happen with Muslims and Arabs as usual.
  • Not in my name as a person: I believe in your free-will, so argue politically like you want since it is your right, but you shall never find any umbrella that legalizes the Israeli actions against Palestinians by whatever normative framework: “international law”, “international human rights” and “international criminal laws” that have been accepted by nations despite the chaos of political actions.

Aside form the complicated Middle East political situation, I have real problem with volatilizing human rights of Palestinians like:

  1. Applying the blockade that affect them in Gaza Strip and West Bank;
  2. Hardening their life by all aspects both on the short run and long run;
  3. Repetitive assaults in the holy lands and al-Aqsa Mosque (Arabic: المسجد الأقصى);
  4. Evacuating them from their home-lands in Jerusalem and other places;
  5. Establishing The Separation Wall that divides the occupied Arab Land;
  6. Implementing illegal settlements on the whole occupied Arab Land;
  7. Performing an armed operation codenamed “Operation Cast Lead” in Gaza Strip (2008/2009)

If you try to put the stereotyped images aside you shall clearly see this as a normal human being while discussing civilians matters but politicians usually have their own way to describe things in this world! Hereby, you still find group of people – politicians or not – who are infected with tunnel vision of mentalities that cause their minds – not only eyes – to be blind enough to understand that civilians matter during conflicts.

The Piece Process

I repeat the beginning of this post; peace is the dream that people want to achieve, however this process cannot go in parallel with these kind of “collective punishment” against Palestinians plus “collateral damages” for their properties in order to keep them under siege and prohibits their basic human rights. Nevertheless, although I have problem with volatilizing, it is not only about these basic human rights but also about their right to have their own state.

For that matter, I salute and support the “Goldstone Report” that came out to condemn these actions against because civilians matter whoever they are. In fact, this is another step on the thousand miles way to go which simply means working on the implementation of various United Nations Resolutions for this case to end not only the continuous siege but also the whole occupation so they can establish their own state.

In a nutshell, I previously elaborated on the aggression that is implemented by people towards others and explained how they cannot see the common grounds that are found either among the members of the same society or among the regional and international relations between nations. Hereby, it is about starting with the individual level where our human intellect can help in achieving these common grounds if people decide. Furthermore, even if achieving Peace and establishing the Palestinian state seems far right now to happen, but at least we are living in the 21st century, where people nowadays worldwide can access information either online or offline, so it is hard to twist facts as happened in the past.

Note: Unfortunately, people usually agree or disagree without reading, so I placed resources for for the whole subject of Middle East conflict plus the Goldstone report in case anybody is interested.
