Amr Khaled: Clacket #1001
Assalam Alaikum wa rahmat Allah.
Peace be upon you dear visitor.
In the previous blog entry, I placed my refelctions on Amr Khaled’s role in awakening the giant of understanding among Arab and Muslims youth in order to implement their powers in useful cases instead of wasting time in nothing and this is why he is popular among them, and I think this lead to rank him among Muslims Intellectuals worldwide not only from my point of view.
Nevertheless, the issue is not being fan with someone who is right while others are wrong; no it is not that naïve way of thinking. I elaborated before on how we are just humans; thus there is no one 100% error free as every body has good points verse bad ones. Additionally, as for opinions, it is normal to find people who agree and disagree but what bothers me is the ways people use to attack him either in a personal way or used without knowing anything about him.

Amr Khaked criticized
Here is an example to illustrate; once I met some friends and we chat about many things, then Amr Khaled’s name plus Life Makers program were mentioned and I found them attacking. Needless to mention that I respect everybody’s point of view, but when I asked “have you ever seen an episode for him or read something before attacking?” the answer was “No, we used to hear – blah blah blah”
I am wondering about how someone attacks another without knowing anything about him. I do not like this atmosphere where you just attack anyone only because you heard that others are attacking him!
From my perspective, this means placing negative criticism that has nothing but subtraction instead of placing positive criticism that can be an addition for all of us.
This negative attitude reminds me with what happened in Egypt few years back in the 1990s when our beloved noble awarded writer Naguib Mahfouz was attacked by an extremist because he heard that his writings are against Islam. Heard without actually reading anything and here I am wondering about the reason for having minds if we did not use them!
It seems that this attitude is not only against Amr Khaled; rather it is everywhere since past until today. In Egypt – again for example – happened while like attacking Taha Hussein, Abbas El-Akad, Tawfiq Al-Hakim, Youssef El-Sebai; Yahya Haqqi and others. Even worse in the very past time with Ibn Rushd (Averroes) who others have not agreed with him.
Generally speaking, I respect people opinion yet this respect increases when their opinions come from their mind after reading and thinking, whether they agree or disagree with me in the subject of discussion. Hence we have our human intellect that help us for wondering and pondering or else if you just repeat what others say, then what is the reason for having minds?
On the other hand, there is my opinion and your opinion, hence as we can agree about many things, we can also disagree about others because everyone has his own personality, culture, education and mentality; however, this does not mean that I am 100% right while others are 100% wrong! NO, we are having different points of view yet we are called to respect. Furthermore, the Almighty Allah (swt) – GOD – is the only one who can judge people’s intentions afterlife in the hereafter so let me end with a famous legacy quotes:
“My opinion is right that may have some wrong parts whereas others’ opinions are wrong that may have some right parts“
In a nutshell, The Almighty Allah (swt) had granted us with our minds in order to use. This can be achieved when we read, think, observe, and analyze everything in order to reach our own opinions that belong to us as an outcome of our human intellect not imitating opinions of others and remember that no one is 100% perfect.
May Allah forgive all of us, Amen!
Salam
